Your cost questions, answered
How much does a wedding cost in London?
Most London weddings land between GBP 25,000 and GBP 55,000 all-in, with a typical 100-guest celebration around GBP 34,000 before VAT. Venue and catering usually take more than half.
Why does the final invoice exceed the quotes?
VAT. Many venues and caterers quote per-head prices excluding it, so 20% appears at the end — and service charge is often calculated on the post-VAT total. Always ask whether a quote is inclusive before comparing two of them.
What actually brings a London wedding down in price?
Guest count first, because it drives catering. After that a Friday or Sunday, an off-season month, or a venue outside zones 1 and 2 will each move the total far more than trimming flowers or stationery.
Ranges are directional market figures — your quotes will vary with date, guest count and season. The surest numbers come from vendors with published pricing.
