A 100-guest single-day framing does not describe a typical Indian wedding, so the figures below are our scaling to roughly 100 guests across two or three functions, not a published average. How much does an Indian wedding cost?
WedMeGood's 2025-2026 report puts the average at INR 39.5 lakh, but for a multi-day wedding averaging 420 guests. Scaled to roughly 100 guests across two or three functions, most weddings land between INR 6 lakh and INR 40 lakh before GST.
Why does this guide's number look lower than everything else I have read?
Because most published Indian wedding averages measure far larger weddings. Ours is scaled to about 100 guests across two or three functions and is stated as a scaling, not a survey result. Match the guest count and function count before comparing any two figures.
What is the most commonly missed cost?
18% GST. Banquet halls, hotels, photographers, planners and decorators all quote pre-tax, and premium hotels add a further 5-10% service charge. The 5% GST rate applies only narrowly, such as non-AC halls or food billed through an in-house restaurant.
